Miller are a leading independent specialist broking firm for intermediaries, direct insureds and reinsureds, operating in Lloyd’s, London and international markets.
A new growth strategy in 2022 saw Miller invest in three major change programmes. These included:
- Development of a new Target Operating Model (TOM)
- Enhanced data governance and analytics capabilities
- Enhanced agile and digital innovation to improve client experience
William Alexander were appointed as Miller’s recruitment partner to find the key people who would deliver these programmes.
The challenge
Miller’s existing internal business transformation team didn’t have the bandwidth to handle significantly larger programmes, and also wanted to bring more people into the business with experience of successfully delivering equivalent programmes with other insurers.
Additionally, within the highly specialist London market, the battle for talent is fierce and Miller’s senior leaders believe that protecting their warm, family-feel culture is central to attracting and retaining key members of staff.

- Developed an in-depth knowledge of Miller’s strategy, in order to explain its appeal to candidates and ensure the challenge was right for them.
- Built a team of dedicated account managers and researchers to secure highly sought after and niche skills.
Results
Since we started working together, William Alexander have submitted 197 CVs of which 98 have progressed to interview. This 1 in 2 CV to interview ratio demonstrates our ability to find high quality, relevant candidates.
